Greetings and welcome to the website of Radin Mas Primary School (RMPS)!
We at RMPS have a deep conviction of the critical importance of education – to our students’ lives and to the future of Singapore. We are guided by our fundamental beliefs that ‘Every Child Can Learn’, whatever his starting point; and ‘Every Child is Unique’, each with different interests and strengths. In RMPS, our students are at the centre of all that we do in achieving our mission of ‘Developing Each Child Holistically, Equipping Him With Competencies For The Future’. We instil in our students a strong core of values and character as we recognise that character and resilience are important success factors for their future.
With the above in mind, RMPS aims for all students to acquire a holistic education which allow them to explore and discover their interests and talents over a wide range of disciplines, thus providing them with a broad and deep foundation for their lifelong journey, A broad knowledge base helps them make connections across different domains of knowledge, and make meaning of their world. We recognise that our students will need different attributes to succeed in the future and that they need to be adaptable and willing to learn. They need to have the confidence to deal with problems that have no clear-cut solutions. And they need to be able to work effectively with others, across races and nationalities, and to communicate clearly.
RMPS teachers work hard to ensure that every student is an engaged and motivated learner, including those who need extra help and those with special needs. Like a parent, each of my colleague wants every child to “Work Hard, Play Hard and Make a Mark” in his own unique way. We aim to “Motivate, Inspire and Empower” each student to achieve his potential and aspirations. There is an African saying that goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” My colleagues and I endeavour to harness the energy and support of the entire village (our teachers, our parents, our strategic partners and the community) to ignite the curiosity in our students and nurture in them the joy of learning.
The RMPS team goes on a never-ending quest to find better ways to engage students and help them to learn better. In 2014, we scaled Personalised Learning through Multi-Disciplinary Project Work (MDPW) to P2, P3 and P4. In embarking on Personalised Learning, we engaged students and stakeholders such as parents and the community, in the co-design of the MDPW learning process. Students were empowered to choose any topic of their interest to conduct their research as well as how they would want to present their findings and solutions. Feedback from students, teachers, parents and stakeholders were very positive and encouraging.
2015 promises to be yet another exciting year for RMPS as we implement Personalised Learning through MDPW to four levels (P2, P3, P4 and P5) and prototype Computational Thinking at P5 to nurture in our students the 21 st Century Competencies. In developing these competencies, our students will become Confident Persons, adept at working in teams and able to effectively use various modes of communication to articulate their thoughts and ideas; Self-directed Learners, who view education as a life-long process and are willing to invest time and other resources to build their understanding and integrate knowledge into their daily life; Active Contributors, who set high standards of excellence for themselves, are resilient, adaptable and dare to take calculated risks; and Concerned Citizens, who have strong moral character, spirit of service, active citizenship and a Singapore identity.
Join us in our efforts to provide the best learning experience for RMPS students. We look forward to partnering you in your children’s learning journey at RMPS!
