Positive Education
Radin Mas Primary School has been on a Positive Education journey from 2018 onwards. Guided by the work of Martin Seligman in his book Flourish, the school aims to bring our students and staff to the state of flourish. This is the state where our staff and students are able to find fulfillment in their lives, to accomplish meaningful and worthwhile tasks, to connect with others at a deeper level or in short to live “the good life”.
We believe that Positive Education would be a useful tool to allow our students to build greater confidence in themselves and to be able to face the challenges of the future with graciousness, optimism and resilience.
Basing our approaches on Seligman’s five key elements of Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationship, Meaning and Achievement or PERMA, the school has designed a variety of experiences to guide our students through each element.
-
NOTES OF APPRECIATION FROM PARENTS
Parents pen down words of encouragement for their child during Parent Teacher Meeting and Parent Child Teacher Conference.
KINDNESS / GRATITUDE WALL IN CLASSROOM
Students write appreciation notes to their classmates to spread positivity. It is a platform to shape school's positive culture, which is based on kindness, empathy, graciousness and acceptance for all.
LEVEL MURALS / POSITIVE QUOTES
School environment is decorated with different themed and vibrant murals as well as positive quotes to serve as a daily reminder and as an inspiration to all.
-
EXPERIENTIAL AND AUTHENTIC LEARNING
Students engaged in experiential learning activities in authentic setting. Students learning is extended beyond the four walls of the classroom hence creating deeper and meaningful learning experiences for all.
-
CIRCLE TIME
Circle Time was introduced to foster well-being in our students. It is a time for social interaction, which helps to develop positive relationships between their peers and with their form teachers through engaging and meaningful dialogues.
BREAKFAST WITH FORM TEACHERS
Form teachers and students getting to know one another better during Breakfast with Form Teachers, which will be held at the start of every semester.

RADIN MAS GIVES BACK SERIES
Students penned and decorated thank you letters to express their gratitude to SAF personnel for packing masks and keeping Singapore safe and also to uplift their spirits during the COVID-19 situation.
Representatives from the different levels interacted with the SAF personnel before presenting the hand-drawn letters of appreciation from all staff and students.
Students hosting and interacting with senior citizens from Thye Hua Kwan Activity Centre during Chinese New Year celebration. The day's activities and the efforts of these students brought on appreciative smiles and praises from the elderly.
-
STAR STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Star Student of the Month promotes positive behaviour among our students and is a platform to recognise positive student role models.
ACHIEVEMENT DAY - "YOU ARE A STAR"
A platform to celebrate student success at the end of the year. P1 and P2 students put up a series of performances to showcase their learning and talents to their parents. The celebration is more than just feel-good moments but propels students forward on their education journey in RMPS.
RMPS MAKE-A-MARK
The RMPS Make-A-Mark is the signature school wide recognition platform to recognise and affirm our students. Students are given a Make-A-Mark stamp if they demonstrated the School Values in their interactions with their peers as well as in their learning dispositions and attitudes.
SYF ART 2019 ART EXHIBITION
When students see themselves as worthy to put their work in class or public for others to engage with, it is empowering! Displaying their work gives them a sense of accomplishment. Here we have 4 students from 2019 P2 classes whose art work was exhibited at the National Museum of Singapore.
